WOOLSTON
The 1911 census has William WOOLSTON (1876-1928) a bootmaker living in Trunch with his wife Maude and sons Leslie and John. William's wife gave her birthplace as London and it turns out that she was Priscilla Maude Alice BAZANT (or BEZANT) 1879-1961, the daughter of Frederick a carpenter from Suffolk, who married a Sarah from London and lived there for some time. Priscilla was living in London in 1901 but by the time of their marriage in 1907 she was living in Mundesley and as a widow in 1939 she was living in Westwick Arch.
William came from a line of boot and shoe makers, starting with Robert (1835-1880s) who was the son of another Robert, a farm labourer from Sea Palling. William and his brother Benjamin (1865-1950) both carried on the family tradition, although in later life Benjamin turned to market gardening.
Another brother of William's, Arthur (1871-1942) was a carpenter and he made an interesting marriage, when he married Lucy Annie BICE in 1904, as she was born in California, USA. Her father was also a boot and shoe maker from Cornwall, who presumably spent time in the USA when she was born. His father and brothers were tin miners in Cornwall. Interestingly after Benjamin was widowed in 1926 he married Lucy's sister Bertha BICE.
