LONG
The earliest reference that I have found to a Long in Trunch is in 1706 when Mary Long married Thomas Bullard.
Others are mentioned but one family line is clear.
William Long (1719-1802) married Alice Stratton and had 4 children including Robert below.
Robert Long (1744 - 1825) married Ann Olly (Olley) in 1768. He lived in Ivy Farmhouse and this was sold after his death. Click here for the 1826 auction notice.
Robert's son, also Robert was born in 1770 and he married Eleanor Marshall in 1794. This Robert was a blacksmith and in 1841 he was living and working in North Walsham Road with his wife Amy. This property was also sold after his death. Click here for the 1845 auction notice.
Another Robert was born in 1813 with father Robert and mother Mary. I think that this may have been a second marriage for Robert above as Eleanor died in 1802 aged 34. Her grave is in Trunch churchyard where she is buried with 4 children who all died in infancy. This Robert married Harriet Lacy in 1840 and at the time of the 1841 census they were living in Chapel Road and Robert was working as a shopkeeper. Robert then left Trunch and is found in the 1861 and 1871 census in St Stephens in Norwich and by 1881 he was a widower and retired grocer, living in Heigham in Norwich.
Also of interest is William Long born 1771 (brother to Robert born 1770) who married Elizabeth Weeds in 1793. Then as a widower in 1807 he married Deborah Weeds his sister-in-law. They had 3 children and in 1841 he was a farmer living in Mundesley Road next door to William Primrose, so probably in either the White House of Ivy Farmhouse. He was living with Weeds Long aged 30, possibly a daughter or granddaughter. Both William and Robert Long were guardians of the Workhouse.

There are quite a few Long memorials in Trunch churchyard, including the Roberts and their wives. Trunch graves
